Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 Shortcuts

By Joel | October 23, 2007

Yes, I am a big fan of Adobe Dreamweaver CS3. One reason why is the ability to export all your shortcuts to a neatly formatted (yep, uses tables!) HTML document for printing and displaying a handy place or simply filing on your computer somewhere for quick reference. You can even format it to look pretty using CSS as it is a standard HTML document.

To export your Dreamweaver shortcuts to a HTML file:

  1. Open Dreamweaver
  2. Click the ‘Edit’ menu
  3. Scroll down and click the ‘Keyboard Shortcuts…’ item
  4. To export the standard menu command shortcuts, select ‘Dreamweaver Standard’ from the ‘Current set:’ dropdown menu and ‘Menu command’ from the ‘Commands:’ dropdown menu
  5. A little to the right of the ‘Current set:’ dropdown menu, you will find some small icons. The third one along, ‘Export set as HTML’ does the trick
  6. Choose what to call it, where to save it, and you’re done

You will notice you can also export other sets of commands, duplicate sets (to create your own custom shortcuts) and more. Enjoy.

I also am a big fan of DW CS3. I anyone else comes across this post looking for techniques to improve DW, here’s some extensions that I highly recommend. They’re from WebAssist and they have saved me some SERIOUS coding time!
