Philips 1GB Flash Drive Only Showing 486MB Free

By Joel | October 23, 2007

After formatting the Philips 1GB flash drive a number of times, I still could not get it to show up the correct amount of free drive space.

The culprit - the CarryItEasy software that came on it. A trial version was pre-loaded onto the device and password protection was set for half the drive space when I first installed it. Later on, I deleted the program, formatted the drive, and it still would only show half the space available that it should’ve. Like a good consumer, I went straight to the source, Philips, to find out why -they had already pre-empted my questions!

Seems you can download another piece of software from CoSoSys called LockItEasy and remove the password protection that was set. I reformatted the drive and bingo, 965MB of space available. Philips have a FAQ entry for this problem here.

Thank you Philips and CoSoSys :D
