Windows Vista Home Premium

For those considering upgrading to Vista, here is my experience with it so far.
I recently purchased a new laptop. I had it for 1 day! Issues were:
- Apparently not having permissions (despite being the only user and the administrator) to turn of windows services or disable services at startup (using msconfig) - it all seems to work fine until I restart the laptop, and those services I set to be disabled are up and running
- SQL Server had fatal errors during installation. Subsequently, Vista would hang upon startup. Had to do a system restore from BIOS
- Tried it a second time, and seemed to work (I was advised to install SP2 of SQL Server 2005 prior to starting it for the first time - only another 280MB download!)
- ACT! 10 was the next killer. Seems to work beautifully, then of course, you guessed it, fatal error upon installation - rolling back! Solution, can’t use the new, whizbang ACT! 10 on my machine.
- I am now up to Dreamweaver CS3. Installs fine, no problems (breathe sigh of relief). Open Dreamweaver, it crashes after 2 seconds. No error messages, no indication of why, nothing.
- PHP - tried to install - no luck - 5 different error messages.
- FeedReader - worked
- FileZilla - worked
- Yahoo Messenger - worked fine, although Vista said there was a compatibility problem
- Adobe Creative Suite CS2 worked fine??
- Plus a few other gripes
This is just my experience with it so far. Note: I am sticking with XP Pro for a while yet.
